All Gone or Rick's Birthday

My birthday started with breakfast in bed, served by Elizabeth and Kristin. They served a delicious meal of sausage, eggs, home-made biscuits, orange juice, and milk. It was very filling.

Later in the day, we went to dinner with Greg, and Jon.
Birthday dinner at a nice little Mexican place in Roy.


Most of the day was spent working on the bathroom to try to get it back together.
It took me an hour to remove the toilet, an hour to remove the sink and cabinets, and several hours to remove the floor, and subfloor. Above is a picture of the mess that was left after the floor was torn up.
We decided to retile the shower, so I spent about three hours with a hammer and chisel, knocking the tile out of the shower. It was arm-breaking work.

Meanwhile, Krisitn and Lizzy decided to redo their bedrooms. They went with Katherine to pick out paint.
Kristin started by moving all of her furniture into the center of her room, and then began to fill the nail holes with spackle. This will give the wall a nice smooth look, ready for a new nail. After spackling, she had to sand the spots, wipe them with a damp cloth, and finally paint them with primer.
Lizzy has had track practice every morning, so she is a little behind. Here, Lizzy is spackling her room. She must have had a thousand holes in her walls.
Katherine and Kristin are putting tape along the edge of the carpet to protect the carpet from and paint that may splash.
After putting two coats of white paint on the ceiling, Kristin is puting the first coat of colored paint on her walls. This will be the base coat.

I kept working on the bathroom, cutting away the underlayment that was rotten.

Finally, here is the bathroom with everything removed, including the rotten piece of flooring that was next to, and underneath the wall.
