Pre-DI Giveaway
Family, the past week, most of our work on the laundry and bathroom has been shopping for cabinets. A week ago, we met with Kent Jackson from Teerlink Cabinets. Their cabinets are very high quality, but very expensive. We were shocked st the price. So, earlier this week, we shopped at several other cabinet makers, and are awaiting bids from them. Today, I put the first finish coat on the molding around the windows. I am almost done with the laundry room. I will put a second coat of paint around the wimdows, then begin work on the shower. I had an interesting experience. Last week when we visited with Mr. Jackson about cabinets, we asked if we could see some of the cabinets that we were considering. He called, and we subsequently visited a Mr. and Mrs. Thompson who live not far from Teerlink Cabinets. They showed us their cabinets, and then we were visiting. They asked where I worked, and I said Tanner Clinic in Layton. They said their son-in-law works there. His name is Scott Checketts, the dermatolgist. Of course, we know Scott and Lisa. They recently built a new home. Mr. Thompson then mentioned, "What a shame about their bathroom shower. One of the builders punctured the shower pan, when he was installing the shower, and it leaked all over the room below. Now they will have to replace the entire thing, plus repair the damage below."
As I thought on this, I figured I better check to see if our pan leaks. The pan is a thick plastic liner that prevents water from escaping. I tried to be extra careful when I removed the tile and cement board, so I did not damage this liner. To test it, I decided to fill the shower with water. I kept going downstairs and looking at the ceiling, but there was no sign of water. I went down one last time, and as I looked up, a drop hit me in the face. There was water leaking through the ceiling onto the floor. So now, I will have to remove the concrete in the floor of the shower, and put in a new plastic shower pan. It shouldn't be too much work. I'm glad I checked, before I put the tile in.
Below are some pictures of the laundry and bathroom.
This is the west window in the laundry room. The molding around the window was Caroline's idea, and it looks very nice. It only has one coat of paint, but I don't think you can tell that from the picture.
Now, the real reason for this post: Our house is ready to explode, we have so much stuff. I am going to give some things away. The items below are just the beginning. If you want something, be the first to email me, and I will mail you all the items you claim, free of charge. My only requrement is that you don't give anything back. These things are only the beginning, there is lots more to come. Items not claimed within a week, will be donated to the DI. Hence this is called the Great Pre-DI Giveaway.

Make a fashion statement with this smart, bright red sweatshirt. Made by Jansport, it has a few spots of white paint on the right sleeve. Size: XL.
I honestly can't recall where I got this. If one of you gave it to me as a gift, I apologize. I don't think I've ever worn it. It has a nice lining, two outside zippered pockets, and an inside zippered pocket. Size XL
Worn only once, 100% cotton, size XL.
This was given to me by the physical therapy group in Layton. It has never been worn. It is lightweight, and the outside has a "soft, brushed" feel to it. Size: XL.
This fashionable piece is in good shape, and has no holes. There are no paint marks. The tag is gone, but I believe it is a size: large.
Made of 85% wool, 15% nylon. Size: large. It has been stretched out and is a little large on me.
This book contains an account of the Willie Handcart Company's journey and subsequent rescue. It is a companion to the movie we saw at Christmas time. I received two of these for Christmas. It contains interesting stories, and beautiful pictures of the art work that was completed for the sequicentennial of the handcart company.
That's all for now. More to come.

I think I'll have to pass on this round. Hopefully we'll get to stuff like skis and the like.
I would like the Martin Willy Handcart book.
Any chance you give away your hot tub?
Dad, I think it was my idea to put molding around the window.
