Albion Basin

Friday August 4, 2006
After work tonight, Katherine, Kristin and I drove to Albion Basin at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon. Katherine had been here earlier in the day with Anna Whitby, and Danita Caldwell. The wildflowers were so profuse, she convinced me to come up after work. We arrived as the sun was beginning to lower.
At the trailhead.

These wild geraniums dotted the ground. They are loved by moose.

The meadows were filled with flowers.

Indian Paintbrush amid unnamed white flowers.

Purple Lupine.

Kristin along the trail.

The most beautiful flower of all.

We came across a lerge herd of deer. The young bucks eyed us warily.

As we neared the top of Catherine Pass, the sun set, orange filling the sky.

As we reached the top of the pass, the moon peeked from behind the clouds. The sun was gone, and the sky was dark. We returned to our car by moonlight.

What a beautiful hike. I remember hiking there with Mom and Grandmother Hanson and most everyone else a few years ago, but there weren't as many flowers as you saw.
