Family Reunion

After Scout Camp, I drove home, showered, and we drove to the Family History Library. We wanted to find some family names to take to the Temple. I had no idea where to start. I opened my research book, and chose to work on the line that Becky and I had worked on in March. I showed Caroline, Spencer, Kanien, and the others how to look up the film numbers for a certain parish. We then went to the birth records for a child in the family. This told us the parents, and the name of their farm in the parrish. With this information, we were able to locate the family in the Clerical Survey, and find the names of several siblings. This gave us four new names, that we were able to process to take to the Temple. We accomplished all this in the space of a few hours. We had to rush home, because that evening, we were having a party at our house.
We started with a wonderful dinner on the patio, although threatening weather forced us inside.

Kanien is really downing that corn.
Owen loved bouncing on the trampoline with the "older" kids.
After dinner, Spencer opened his mission call to the Mexico Torreon Mission. We were all surprised, especially me. I keep hoping for a French Missionary.
Lining up for the gunny-sack race.
Greg livened up the party with a squirt-gun attack.
Kenji won the gunny sack race for the sixteen and older age group.
We played ping pong on the lawn.
On Thursday, we took the names that we had found and performed Baptisms for the Dead.
After doing baptisms for the dead, we went to the ZCMI Mall for Pizza!
Lizzy and Owen in the plaza by the Church Office Building. After returning home, Katherine and I returned to the Temple to do the initiatory. Then we were joined by Jon, Kanien, Caroline and Jeff, and we completed the endowments. Back home, we finished packing for...

Wow that's amazing you found four names in such a short time. Sometimes I think I should be doing FH work instead of updating my blog or reading email. You'll have to show me where to work (what line) when I'm there in December. I wish we could have all been there.

Maybe you'll just have to wait for one of your grandchildren go to a French mission.

That was so fun! Thanks Dad! I think that was the coolest time I have ever had at the Family history library. I really enjoyed it.
